About Me

I’m an artist and educator who finds joy in every brushstroke—on canvas and in life. Theresa Casciato Kennish I was born and raised by the beach in Atlantic County. My love of art started at an early age with the encouragement of my family.

I nurtured my love of art by taking classes and working with local artists while also pursuing a career as an educator. My art life has continued to grow over the years with local artists' shows and showings at local galleries. I recently retired after 32 years of teaching and I am excited to now focus solely on my painting.

My paintings convey movement and energy through the use of bold color. Nature inspires me. I am continually amazed and inspired by the sea, sky and everything in between. I use my intuition and inner filter to guide me through my painting allowing inspiration to direct my creativity.

I prefer to work large although there is a time and place for all sizes. I use a combination of brushwork combined with palette knives, putty knives, brayers and pretty much any fun tool I can find. I get excited by the limitless possibilities of combining tools, movement and paint.

I am currently exhibiting at ANEU Kitchens in Margate, NJ and Paoli, PA. I also exhibit my work at the Ocean City Fine Arts League, the OC Arts Center and Coastal Creations Studios in Ocean City, NJ as well as Surrey Beach House in Ventnor, NJ. I work with children in after school programs at the OC Arts Center in addition to participating in monthly shows hosted by the Absecon Arts Alliance of which I am currently a board member. Most recently, I was interviewed by Bob Kelly on Fox News about my art and teaching and participated in a 2026 group show at Jessie Creek Winery in Cape May Court House, NJ.

Painting moves me. It inspires me, fills me with energy and anchors my desire to paint.
